I was not a big fan of KT Tunstall, but I think I am, now! Not that I didn't like her, I just didn't know more than the few songs of hers that received heavy rotation on the radio back home.

Although she now lives in Southern California, she grew up in Scotland and comes back to the UK to tour with every album she releases. Some of our friends coordinated a group outing to York to see her at the Barbican. Sure, we said. Why not?

The opening act was one of the most cringe-worthy things I've ever endured, but all was forgiven once KT got on stage. She had great stage presence and 'chatted' quite a bit with the audience in between songs. She even goofed up on one of her bigger hits, stopped herself about 1 minute in, laughed, and explained that she had to start from the beginning.

My only complaint (well, aside from the horrendous experimental/screechy opening act) was her use of strobe lights. I had to close my eyes for a few songs here and there as I was afraid the lights would give me a migraine. And one elderly man had to be escorted out after he became sick (in the British sense) and faint during one of the particularly flashy-strobey songs. Other than that, it was a fine night out!
