On our very last day we had to check out of our swanky French countryside chateaux several hours before we had to be at the airport. What to do, what to do… Why not go back and walk around the medieval city of Carcassonne one last time?

I still can't get over how much Carcassonne looks like a fairytale city on a hill. We walked around the outside, perused the shops inside and did some last minute shopping.

We had one final group lunch in the main square within the enclosed old city, and then made our way to the airport.

But we weren't sad to leave. We knew we were going to be hanging out again in less than six weeks… in Iceland!
