Corrieshalloch Gorge - Updated

Very near Ullapool there is a lovely walk that takes visitors across a suspension bridge over Corrieshalloch Gorge (pronounced cory-sha-losh). I had read about the suspension bridge online and hoped that the weather would clear up enough so that Bill and I could make our way to the gorge.

Thankfully, the skies cleared and we made our way down to the gorge. We are so glad we did! The walk was easy, and although the suspension bridge was terrifying, the view was stunning!
Leaning over the bridge, terrified
The suspension bridge only allowed six people or less on the bridge at a time, and even with us and just one other couple, the bridge rocked and swayed. The photos really don't show how far down the gorge's bottom was; trust me, it was a deep, dark gorge!

More people came to cross the bridge, so we had to keep moving along. We made our way to the other side and then walked the short distance to the viewing platform.

Of course it was one of those glass-bottom, glass-walled viewing platforms that was also terrifying.

But in the photo (below) taken from the viewing platform, you can get a sense of the gorge's scale. The suspension bridge is visible crossing between the trees, above the gorge. When I had been on the bridge, my shoulders came up to the top of the bridge.

A final photo from the viewing platform. We were cold, a bit wet from the rain, but happy.

Cheers!
