After our adventures at Terrazze dell'Etna and the fabulous luncheon, we made our way over to an older, more traditional vineyard, Benanti Winery. Again, we got an amazing tour of their facility, as well as the story of their history and winemaking on Mount Enta.

I didn't go down the steps into the barrel room (because, ankle!), but up above I was able to capture some happy people exploring the various barrels.

As I said, this winery was a lot older than the first one we visited, this one even had a really old wine press that Bill, ever the engineer, enjoyed examining.

And then we sat down to yet another feast - as if we hadn't had enough to eat or drink that day! We tried six different wines and had more sausages, olives, cheeses, breads, tomatoes, and cured ham that you could even imagine.
Dig in! |
We left stuffed, tipsy, happy, and with several cases of wine ordered (per couple) from each vineyard, eager to have more of their delicious wine once back home. Some of the wine will keep for many years, so we hope to store some to share with our friends back in the states as well.

If you ever find yourselves anywhere near Sicily, I highly recommend Ben Spencer's wine school!
